But recently the Ice pack has been discarded by dance educators. Before using ice packs, it is important to make sure that ice is not overused as it can damage the tissues. Ice has to be used before 48-72 hours of injury. Though, some believe that ice need not be used as the body can heal the inflammation. Ice treats inflammation symptoms but does not treat the injury. The initial swelling can be reduced by using ice that can speed up the healing process.
Ice can be helpful in many ways as it can reduce pain and swelling quickly. Another great benefit of using an ice pack on the injury is that it can not only help in revealing pain caused due to primary injury but can also decelerate the metabolic process and protect issues that are not damaged by the primary injury. This way you can protect yourself from multiple injuries. Using an ice pack on the injury for 10-15 minutes on a new injury is advised. Give it an interval of 20 minutes before reapplying.
